Intro

This blog is supposed to be, as much as I can, my daily journey through life as a Christian. I hope it to be my thoughts and feelings on life but be as grounded in the Christian message as it can. My intention is not to create a daily readings or bible study guide but to look at my life in terms of a Christian trying to find and follow God's mission using his Life User's Manuel AKA the Bible.

Matthew 10 19-20

And don't you worry about what you'll say or how you'll say it. The right words will be there; the Spirit of your Father will supply the words. - Matthew 10 19-20

It's life, but not as they know it

To say that I am a little bit of a science geek would be an understatement. I spent over 8 years studying physics, read science papers for fun and have a huge love for sci-fi. One of my favourite TV shows is Star Trek, in all its forms, with one of my favourite claims to fame being that I attended the same University to Chris Pine (Captain Kirk). When I was trying to decide what to blog about this evening I kept thinking about a famous Star Trek quote;

     "It's life, Captain, But not as we know it"

This quote ran through my head again and again and wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, almost at the point of giving up and looking for something more solid I changed the line in my head.

     "It's life, but not as they know it"

This sums up Christianity in a very succinct way, because Christianity is a way of life, but not in the way that the world would think of it. The world does not consider Christianity to be a fulfilling way of life as the values of Christians are so much different to the values of the world. The way that we live should not be the way that they live, the things we do should not be the same as those the world does. The reason is that everything we do should be right in the eyes of God, following the example set by Jesus. People who are of the world do things that are self gratifying and self serving whereas the things Christians do should be God gratifying and should serve those who are in need.

Christianity is life, but it is not life in the way that the world knows it. Not only is it life now, but it is eternal life through Jesus whereas life the world's way will bring you nothing but eventual destruction.
